Reduce Unwanted Catalogs

A while back I did a post on Stop Junk Mail and Help the Environment, some of the companies I listed in there also help reduce unwanted catalogs but this site is specifically for unwanted catalogs.

CatalogChoice.org is a free service that lets you communicate your mail preferences to companies. Choose which catalogs you no longer wish to receive. The mission of Catalog Choice is to reduce the number of repeat and unwanted catalog mailings, and to promote the adoption of sustainable industry best practices. We aim to accomplish this by freely providing the Catalog Choice services to both consumers and businesses. Consumers can indicate their mail preference for catalogs, and businesses can receive the list in a secure manner so that they can efficiently honor the requests.

I signed up for this and it is a very easy process. It helps to have the catalogs you are wishing to discontinue by your side so you can refer to them for the Customer Number and Key Code.

Its as easy as 1,2,3:

  • Step 1 – Sign Up. Fill out the online registration form using your name and primary mailing address.
  • Step 2 – Find Your Catalogs. Find and set mail preferences for your catalogs, using the Catalog Choice search facilities. We’ll then contact the catalog providers on your behalf, requesting that your preference be honored.
  • Step 3 – See The Results. It can take at least twelve weeks to process your request, after which time your mail preference should be in effect.

Catalog Choice is a sponsored project of the Ecology Center. It is endorsed by the National Wildlife Federation and the Natural Resources Defense Council, and funded by the Overbrook Foundation, the Merck Family Fund, the Kendeda Fund, the Weeden Foundation and the Mead Foundation.
