10 Green Ways to Shed Those Extra Pounds by Christmas

Holiday parties happen from November throughout December with the biggest party being New Years Eve. We all have those cocktail dresses or suits that make their appearance at this time of the year and if we aren’t careful in the next two months, these clothes will not fit us come Christmas. Here are 10 practical ways to lose those extra pounds by Christmas or even maintain the weight you are currently at.

1. Start with a healthy breakfast! Don’t skip breakfast; thinking it will help you loose weight because it actually does the opposite. It takes calories to digest calories, so eating in the morning fires up your metabolism. Breakfast options: Whole grain cereal, two pieces of whole wheat toast with two tablespoons of peanut butter and add a banana or an apple.

2. Snack Healthy 2-3 times a day. If your place of business doesn’t offer healthy choices for snacks, then you have to start bringing your own snacks. Plan ahead and try to have snacks on hand. Healthy snacks: An ounce of nuts, pretzels, or string cheese; a medium piece of fruit; six graham cracker squares; or six cups of low-fat microwave popcorn. YumYumSnacks.com offers organic snacks for all ages.

3. Cut your alcohol consumption in half. I know it’s hard, especially at this time of year but alcohol can really pack on the pounds. Check out this article 5 Ways to beat the beer belly.

4. Switch to drinking green tea. Drink two cups of organic green tea a day. With each sip of green tea, you get health-promoting substances: two potent flavonoids — anthocyanin and proanthocyanidin — and a healthy dose of catechin. It also is a proven, natural metabolism booster. Green tea and weight loss.

5. Drink lots of tap water. Even if all you did was start drinking more water you would likely lose weight. That’s because the body needs to be fully hydrated in order to maintain a healthy metabolism.

6. Start a weight-training regimen. You’ve heard that muscle weighs more than fat, but did you know that muscle burns more calories? Building lean muscle through weight training causes the body to burn more calories throughout the day. When combined with regular aerobic exercise, weight training can help you lose more weight.

7.Don’t eat after 8pm. This gives your body a break from digesting while you sleep.

8. Go for lighter choices. If you drink 2% milk, switch to 1% or non-fat. If you use butter, switch to organic vegetable margarine (a lot less fat and better for you). In any area that you can go low fat try the switch.

9. Share! When eating out start sharing meals. This stops you from eating too much. By sharing you are being green because you no longer have left over’s to worry about that come in those awful take out boxes that can’t be recycled.

10. Last but not least, don’t be too hard on yourself. Give yourself rewards every now and then to keep you on your diet. Indulge in conservative amounts of your favorite foods once a week. But remember a serving should be the size of an average apple.

Organic Essential Oils and Vitamins – Do they work?

I have been struggling with some minor beauty issues, mainly my hair. With having had it colored over and over and using hot irons on it, I have seen a huge decline in the look and feel of my once beautiful long hair. It was disturbing the first time I had to cut off a few inches because of split ends. As I look into why hair reacts this way and ways to help it, I found that one main reason for me is because I am anemic(low in iron). So I went to the health food store to find the best absorbing, all natural, organic vitamins. I also have given up coloring my hair or using hot irons on it for the time being. Hopefully forever, but with curly, out of control hair, we will see. Another thing I found was if I am stressed my body shows it, so I found a something for that too.

These are the two different supplements I have started taking.

Floradix Iron & Herbs Easy to digest liquid solution, because Floradix is a liquid solution and does not need to dissolve, 98% of the iron is available for quick potential absorption. Floradix was found in a recent study to be faster and more effective at bringing iron stores back to normal than iron from food. Highly absorbable iron compounds, Floradix boasts the highest possible iron absorption rate: up to 25% is absorbed for potential utilization. Due to the high absorption rate of Floradix, very little unabsorbed iron enters into the intestinal tract and therefore constipation is unlikely to occur. Ideal for vegetarians, vegans and is certified kosher, with no harmful additives.

I have been using this for about 3 weeks and haven’t noticed much as of yet. One thing I can say is I have not had any of the side effects usually associated with iron supplements.

Barlean’s The Essential Woman – The Essential Woman is derived from seeds of botanical flowers such as evening primrose and flax, as well as special plant phytonutirents, all recognized for their beautifying and balancing qualities. The Essential Woman is the first product of it’s kind to combine a full compliment of therapeutically beneficial nutrients targeted for the special and changing needs of a woman.

I have been using this for 1 week and have not noticed anything significant yet. I will continue to take it and see what it does. I have read many reviews and it seems that it takes at least a couple weeks to notice any difference.

My question to you: Have you used either of these products? What do you think of them? I would love to know more about these products and if they really work.

My Product Crush List

I have fallen in love with my latest all natural beauty products and want to share them. Not only do they all work effectively, but in addition they are all natural and I feel like I am pampering myself when I use them. These are my top five:

#5Mango Satin Soap for Hands and Face” by JASON.
WHY: I use this soap as a body wash, it has a fruity smell that is not overpowering and it is a great moisturizer.

#4Apple and Green Tea Clarifying Conditioner” by JASON.
WHY: My hair feels genuinely clean and soft.

#3 “Professional Lacquer” by Zoya.
WHY: This product is the exception to the list because it is not organic but it is free of formaldehyde, toluene, dibutyl phthalate and camphor, all harmful chemicals usually found in nail polish. Try the color “Jacy.”

#2 “Brilliance Vanishing Wrinkle Lotion” by zia. WHY: I am good taking care of my face with this lotion because it repairs wrinkles and protects my skin with SPF 15.

#1 (I would not want to live without!) “Apricot Scrubble,”
WHY: It is an intense exfoliating face wash by JASON. I don’t do the whole gentle cleanse thing on my face.

Not all of my beauty products are organic, but hopefully soon they will be. My goal is to replace all of the unnatural products with organic ones. I think it is important to use products, especially on your face and body that aren’t a threat to your health. All of these products and brands can be ordered online, very convenient!
